Thought Bubble - Careful Where You Step

Please be careful of where you are walking. We need to be more mindful and in the present moment as we walk around. That means being mindful of your surroundings and who is there, not paying attention to your cell phone or some other device. If we aren't mindful we can unwittingly gather a lot of negative karma for ourselves.

If you are walking around your home, go around your pets that are laying on the floor instead of stepping over them. The same goes with any person, you do not want to step over them if you can avoid it. This is especially important when it comes to stepping over someone's head. Never step over their head, that is very bad karma and completely disrespectful. That goes for humans, animals and insects, whether indoors or outdoors. It is really difficult to do that with insects, but try if you can. If you cannot avoid stepping over someone then try not to step over their head at least.

Although it can be difficult, we need to try our best not to step on insects that may be in our path. This isn't always easy, but the more we meditate and gain more discipline of our minds, the more we feel the connection with others, including insects. I can be walking down the sidewalk and suddenly my attention shifts to the ground and I will see ants in my path. Once I am clear of the ants my mind shifts back to the walk I am taking. I feel my mind becomes aware of the presence of other living beings and that is why I suddenly find my attention shifting to them, so I do not step on them. My mind is aware that I do not want to step on any insects, so it alerts me when they are present. You can develop this with time and practice. When I go for a walk, I do not have a cellphone or any other device on me. I do not wear earphones or listen to music, so that I can enjoy and be aware of what is going on around me at all times.

If I find I am stepping over insects, which sometimes can not be avoided, then I have a mind of regret for doing it and I apologize to them. This helps to clear up some of the negative karma I would otherwise be creating for myself.

Please work on overcoming your attachment for your cell phones and other devices, so you can become more present, alert and mindful of what is actually happening in your life around you, especially when you are walking or driving anywhere. That is far more important to you, your safety, the safety of others and your spiritual progress, than the latest viral video or some text anyone sends you. By distracting your mind with a cellphone or some other device you are preventing yourself from gaining valuable insight to how your mind works. Being distracted you are more likely to cause harm to others without even being aware of it, or causing a car crash if you are driving. Please be careful.

Live the Good Way © What Exactly is Karma?

If you have been listening to my podcasts, you will have heard me talk about karma and that I plan to do a series of podcasts on the topic. Well, this is the beginning of that series. The topic of karma is a large one. Many people know of a simplified version of it, but it is much vaster and deeper than you may know. In this podcast, we'll look at the basics. The definition of karma is action. Karma means action. Any action you perform is karma. Any and every action you perform is karma. When you perform a positive action that is positive karma and when doing negative things that is negative karma. We have all done both positive and negative actions. All of us. In my last podcast, I talked about past lives which are vital to this topic of karma. We all have what I like to refer to as a storage locker of karma that we have always had. Every action you have ever performed in all the lifetimes you have ever lived has been put into that storage unit. Since most of us do not r...

Live the Good Way © Podcast Episode 1 : How to Achieve World Peace

You will not find the solution to world peace out there in the world somewhere. Technology will not bring peace. Bigger, more deadly weapons will not bring peace. You cannot force people to live in peace with a military. If you are thinking that everyone else needs to bring about world peace so that you can finally have peace, it won't happen. There is nothing out there in the world that will give you world peace. Nothing out there anywhere. Ask yourself has anything out there in the world brought about world peace, yet? No, it hasn't. Technology has not given us anything that has made everyone feel peace in their hearts. Sure, it has brought us many things to distract our minds and entertain us or give us less work to do, but it has not brought about peace. If you are waiting for someone to invent something that will cause world peace it will never happen. Humans do not seem capable of agreeing on anything. So while some people may find an invention peaceful, others will...

Live the Good Way © Episode 3 The Human Divide

More than one prophecy has been made about the division of human beings. A split seems inevitable. Some humans will seek the truth and want to invest in their spirituality, by becoming the best version of themselves that they can be. Others however, do not have this capacity and will stay in the backwards society they have developed and their lives will become far worse over time. Right now you have to choose which direction you want to go. Most people will stay behind living backwards lives, some of them not ever realizing there is a different way available to them. If you don't know what I mean by living backwards, please listen to my previous podcast “Society is Backwards” to find out what I am talking about. This divide or split is mentioned in the Bible, it is also in the Buddhist teaching of Shambala and in some Native American prophecies. There may be others that I am not aware of. In the Christian and Buddhist teachings, it tells how a small number of people will ...
