Avoiding Lower Rebirth Meditation

We want to avoid taking rebirth in one of the lower realms in the future. The suffering in the animal, hungry ghost and hell realms is far worse than what we endure in this human life. We also have no chance to make spiritual progress in those rebirths, as our suffering will be too great to bear. Negative karma causes us to take rebirth in the animal realm, heavier negative karma will cause us to end up in the hungry ghost realm and the heaviest negative karma we engage in will cause us to be born in hell. It is very easy for us to gain negative karma in this very lifetime. Simply squatting a mosquito in anger can create the cause to be reborn in hell. In this life and all our previous lives we have done many bad actions. We know this is true because of the difficulties we go through in our lives now. We need to do our best to change our impulses to behave badly, so we do not give ourselves even more negative karma. We can meditate to make our mind familiar with the danger of doing...

Relaxation Technique

To do this relaxation technique we can sit comfortably and close our eye to minimize distractions.   We can think to ourselves, my forehead is relaxed and feel muscles of our forehead becoming relaxed. Now we can think my eyes are relaxed and feel the tension float away. And my face is relaxed. Allow yourself to become relaxed. My jaw is relaxed. My entire head is completely relaxed. My throat is warm and comfortable. My neck is relaxed. My shoulders are relaxed and free of all tension and stress, just let it go. My upper arms are relaxed. My lower arms and hands are relaxed. My chest is open, warm and relaxed. My stomach is relaxed and free of all stress and worry, just release it. My abdomen is relaxed and feel yourself becoming more deeply relaxed. My pelvis is relaxed. My upper back is relaxed and free of all tension and stress. My lower back is relaxed and free of all stress and worry. My entire spine is completely relaxed. Feel yourself becoming even more tranquil. My ...

Try to Give Rather Than Lend

Lending items or money to anyone can lead to many problems and create negative karma. Whenever we lend anything, we expect to get it back. If the item or money is not returned this causes problems for everyone. The person that borrowed the item has then stolen it, and will have to deal with all the negative karma that creates for them. The person that lent the item is now upset and angry over having lost it and that is negative karma they are creating for themselves, too. Friendships can be lost, fights can break out all because you lend things. If you cannot part with the money or item that someone is asking to borrow from you, then do not lend it. Tell them you are unable to help them out at this time. Sure, they may become upset, but that should be short lived. If they are your friend, then they will remain your friend. If they are someone that is just trying to take advantage of you, they will go elsewhere because they will learn they cannot do that to you. You are not being me...

Watchful Mind Meditation

We want to sit in our meditation posture, if you are sitting in a chair have your feet flat on the ground. Sit with your back as straight as possible without being uncomfortable. Place your left hand palm up and then your right hand palm up. Place your right hand on top of your left and gently touch your thumbs together. Place your hands in your lap and point your thumbs towards your belly button. Then slightly lower your chin. Close your eyes to reduce any distractions. We can think to ourselves, my forehead is relaxed and allow yourself to become relaxed. We can think my eyes are relaxed and feel the tension around your eyes soften. My face is relaxed. My jaw is relaxed. My entire head is completely relaxed. My throat is warm and comfortable. My neck is relaxed. My shoulders are relaxed and free of all tension and stress. Just let it go. My upper arms are relaxed. My lower arms and hands are relaxed. My chest is open, warm and relaxed. My stomach is relaxed and free of all stress ...

Finding Your Spiritual Path

If you are looking for a religion or spiritual practice in life, try to find one that fits you. Many of us were born into families that have religious beliefs that just don't sit right with us and it is okay to walk away from it and explore other options that are more suited to us. I was raised Christian but had a hard time believing in 'God'. It didn't make sense to me. I went to the library and researched and read about different religions until I found one that matched the beliefs I had already. You see I have always believed in re-incarnation, although I was never taught about it. I brought this imprinting with me from past lives. Eventually, I found Buddhism which aligned with the things I felt and believed already. I was looking for the truth and believe I found it with Buddhism. Not long after, I also discovered Shamanism and this aligned closely with Buddhism for me, so it was a good fit. I consider both of them to be spiritual paths rather than religions. ...

Thought Bubble - Have You Prepared for Your Future Lives?

If you have learned and understand that past lives exist, then it is only logical that you will live again in new lives in the future. The question is, have you done anything to prepare for any of them? Most people spend this one brief life that they currently have trying to fulfill all of their desires in a vain attempt for perfection. It will never happen because they are trying to get everything outside of themselves perfect in order to finally be satisfied. It is impossible to get everything in life perfect. No one has a perfect life, so just about everyone is wasting their time and efforts to get rich, or famous or whatever it is they think they need to finally be happy. They are blind to reality and are ignorant of the truth. This is only one life out of countless numbers of lives we have had and we will experience. Throughout most of our lives, we have spent our time trying for this outer perfection that cannot be achieved. We only focus on the life we are currently livin...

Thought Bubble - How to Reduce Some of Your Problems

If you want to reduce some of the troubles you find yourself having, then try to let go of your expectations. Expectations can bring us a lot of problems. If we expect things to happen in our life and then they don't, we can become miserable. If we expect people to treat us a certain way and they don't, we may become upset. When we place expectations on ourselves, we can be disappointed if we don't meet those demands. We need to learn that we can become very attached to our expectations and this can make things seem worse than they really are. Expectations affect every aspect of our lives. We need to let go of some of them. It is good practice to try your best to reduce your expectations in life. This will help to give you more peace, as you won't be getting as upset at how things happen around you. You will be more content in your life when you learn to accept things as they are more. If you examine your life and your behaviours, do find you have a lot of e...

Thought Bubble - Daily 5 Minute Meditation on Love

In these degenerate times, doing this brief 5 minute meditation on love can give you a vast amount of good karma, so be sure to do the dedication at the end to safeguard it. We want to get into our meditation posture. We want to sit with our backs as straight as possible without feeling uncomfortable. Close your eyes to minimize distractions. We can think to ourselves, “I am doing this meditation to improve my mind, so that I may benefit everyone I come into contact with either directly or indirectly.” We can imagine as many people or animals in front of us that we wish to send love to. We can include as many living beings that we are comfortable with. Once we have pictured as many living beings in front of us that we can, we can then imagine our chosen deity or our higher self above us. We can imagine they are sending us pure love in the form of white light and nectar from their heart, gently flowing down to the crown of our head where it enters our body and flows do...

We can close our eyes to prevent distractions. We will start off with a relaxation by thinking to ourselves, My forehead is relaxed and allow yourself to relax. We can think my eyes are relaxed and feel the tension around our eyes dissipate. My face is relaxed. My entire head is completely relaxed. My throat is warm and comfortable. My neck is relaxed. My shoulders are relaxed and free of all tension and stress, just let it go. My upper arms are relaxed. My lower arms and hands...

Thought Bubble - Careful Where You Step

Please be careful of where you are walking. We need to be more mindful and in the present moment as we walk around. That means being mindful of your surroundings and who is there, not paying attention to your cell phone or some other device. If we aren't mindful we can unwittingly gather a lot of negative karma for ourselves. If you are walking around your home, go around your pets that are laying on the floor instead of stepping over them. The same goes with any person, you do not want to step over them if you can avoid it. This is especially important when it comes to stepping over someone's head. Never step over their head, that is very bad karma and completely disrespectful. That goes for humans, animals and insects, whether indoors or outdoors. It is really difficult to do that with insects, but try if you can. If you cannot avoid stepping over someone then try not to step over their head at least. Although it can be difficult, we need to try our best not to step...

Thought Bubble - Guided Alternate Breathing Meditation - Good for Beginners

For this breathing meditation we will not be following the breath on it's journey into and out of our bodies, but we will be concentrating on our abdomen. If we are breathing properly our abdomen will expand when we inhale and deflate when we exhale. If you find that your shoulders are rising and falling with your breath then you are breathing too shallow and this may be from too much stress. You need to try to breath more deeply and purposefully into your abdomen. Remember, if you catch your mind wandering during the meditation you are not failing, but actually succeeding because you are become more aware of your mind and beginning to gain control over it. This meditation will include a relaxation technique, a healing technique, the virtuous motivation or intention, the meditation itself, the virtuous dedication to keep our good karma safe and then the return process. So, let's get started. We need to get into our meditation posture. Sitting in a chair, we place ...

Thought Bubble - Guided Breathing Meditation - Good for Beginners

Thank you for choosing to learn to meditate in the correct way and thank you for wanting to make spiritual progress. The reason we want to meditate is to discipline our mind and gain better control over it, so that we may explore it fully. It is the only way we can truly make spiritual progress. The way to tell if your meditation is successful is whenever you catch your mind wandering. The fact that you suddenly realize your mind has wandered shows that you are gaining control and succeeding. I will guide you through all the steps to have a successful meditation from how to sit right through to how to return gently to most benefit your mind. This photo shows how to put place your hands during the meditation.   Hand position or mudra for meditating For this breathing meditation we will not be following the breath on it's journey into and out of our bodies, but we will be concentrating on the rim of our nostrils or our upper lip if you are unable to breath through your nos...

Thought Bubble - You Need to Meditate for Spiritual Advancement

If you truly wish to make spiritual progress, then you need to meditate in the right way. If you do not meditate, then you will not advance enough to make any significant changes. Anyone that refuses to meditate has negative karma ripening and is limiting themselves from attaining real freedom. If anyone claims to be a spiritual teacher, yet refuses to meditate, then they are someone you should stay clear of, because they will be limited in what they can teach you or they might not know what they are doing. We live in degenerate times, so many meditations are useless and some of them are even harmful. The idea that you need to make your mind completely blank with no thoughts whatsoever, is harmful. If you do this meditation you are creating the future result that you will have trouble being able to think, which will cause you problems. If you learn to meditate the correct way, which is to learn to focus your mind and concentrate on virtue, then you can make real spiritual progr...

Thought Bubble - The Meaning of the Prayers

I have been asked to explain the meaning of the prayers that I say at the beginning of my regular podcasts. I and all sentient beings, until we achieve enlightenment, go for refuge to Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. I and all sentient beings means I am praying to benefit absolutely every living being in existence, including myself. Until we achieve enlightenment, so until each and every one of us becomes a fully enlightened Buddha, which is our ultimate goal in this life and every life we live. Go for refuge to Buddha, Dharma and Sangha is that we seek shelter and help from all the Buddhas, including our own Buddha nature, from Dharma which is the teachings of Buddha and Sangha who is the community of people that are striving to become Buddhas and are following the teaching of Buddha to be able to do just that. The Sangha can be nuns, monks or lay people. This prayer is said three times because it is so important for us to make our mind familiar with it. The next prayer: ...
