The God Realm

The god realm is the opposite to the hell realm that we looked at last week. This realm is the most difficult to take rebirth in, whereas hell is the easiest. That is because we have a tendency to be self grasping and do negative actions to benefit ourselves, rather than doing things to benefit others. Society today glorifies selfish, greedy people and ways of living, which exacerbates these tendencies and makes it impossible to take rebirth in a god realm. We need a massive amount of positive karma to be able to be born in a higher realm. This means we have to spend most of, if not all of our time benefiting others, instead of always trying to fulfill our own desires. We need to engage in virtuous actions such as giving, having patience, wishing others to be happy and so forth. The more time we spend helping others the better our chances of being born in the god realm in the future will be. There are three levels of the god realm, which are desire, form and formless. Desire lev...

Hungry Ghost Realm

We have been learning about the different realms within Samsara and in the last podcast we learned about the dangers of the animal realm and why we don't want to take rebirth there. Today we are going to learn about the hungry ghost realm. This realm is considered to be even lower than the animal realm because it is fraught with even more suffering. The hungry ghost realm is seen as the second lowest floor within the prison of Samsara. You are probably wondering what a hungry ghost is. They are spirit entities that are starving and thirsty. They have families, like we do. They can have husbands and wives and children, but all of them are starving and unable to quench their thirst. It is extremely difficult for them to find any food or water at all. They have long lives filled with suffering. Their stomachs are bloated from hunger and they have very long, thin necks which make it very troublesome to swallow even the tiniest amount of food or water if they are lucky enough to fin...

The Animal Realm

We learned in the last podcast that the animal realm is the first basement level within the prison of Samsara. This is the realm where all the animals and insects dwell. Whether they are flying in the air, surviving on the surface, even underground or living in the water, all the animals and insects are found in the animal realm. The animal realm is considered one of the lower rebirths. You may be wondering why it is considered a lower realm and pictured below ground especially since there are animals all around us in this life. Surely if we are on the ground level or main floor of the prison and they are here with us, then they cannot be below us. Well, the prison with the six floors is only an image to help you picture the realms to better understand them. The animal realm is considered a lower rebirth because animals do not have the mental capacity that we enjoy as humans. They lack the ability to understand spiritual concepts and to make spiritual progress. An animal cannot ded...

Realms of Samsara

You need to have an understanding of past lives for this podcast to make sense, so you may wish to go listen to my podcast on that topic if you are struggling with that concept. We were not humans in every past life we have ever had. We have been a variety of beings, every life form that exists multiple times over. We did not even live on this planet in every past life. We lived in different realms, in different worlds. So what is Samsara? Samsara is the cycle of uncontrolled rebirth. It can be seen as a prison for our minds. We are trapped here in Samsara as long as we remain ignorant of the truth and do nothing to work towards escaping this prison. Now the thing is we have always been stuck in this cycle, but we will all get out. Some of us will get out sooner than others. Many have already escaped. The ones that have escaped are called Buddhas. There are countless Buddhas. This gives us hope that one day we will escape, too and become a fully enlightened Buddha. Until that time ...

Anger the Second Poison

In the last podcast, we learned that we all suffer from three poisons, attachment, anger and ignorance. We looked at the topic of attachment in that podcast. Today we will examine anger and how it poisons our mind and causes us great suffering. We have all experienced anger at different times in our life. Some of us experience this emotion daily. The more familiar we are with feeling this emotion the easier it is for anger to arise within us. You may know of people that get angry at every little thing or people that are so stressed out in their life that they fly off the handle easily. Our anger can consume us. I grew up in a such a dysfunctional family, and I was angry most of my young life at the unfair treatment my brothers and I had to go through. When you grow up in a toxic environment of abuse, it is easy to have a mind familiar with anger. On the other end, I have known people that claim they don't get angry anymore and then watched them get angry at some point later ...

Try to Give Rather Than Lend

Lending items or money to anyone can lead to many problems and create negative karma. Whenever we lend anything, we expect to get it back. If the item or money is not returned this causes problems for everyone. The person that borrowed the item has then stolen it, and will have to deal with all the negative karma that creates for them. The person that lent the item is now upset and angry over having lost it and that is negative karma they are creating for themselves, too. Friendships can be lost, fights can break out all because you lend things. If you cannot part with the money or item that someone is asking to borrow from you, then do not lend it. Tell them you are unable to help them out at this time. Sure, they may become upset, but that should be short lived. If they are your friend, then they will remain your friend. If they are someone that is just trying to take advantage of you, they will go elsewhere because they will learn they cannot do that to you. You are not being me...

The Dangers of Manifesting

Well, believe it or not, but we are still on the topic of karma. I told you it was a huge topic, which is why it is taking so many podcasts to cover. We have looked at personal karma, collective karma, how to protect your positive karma and how to purify your negative karma. Now we are going to learn about some of the dangerous things charlatans pretending to be spiritual people are teaching you that is causing you harm. We live in degenerate times, which I am sure by now you have heard me say many times. During this time period the most popular spirituality is false spirituality. In fact, some of it is downright dangerous to your well being. The main problem is humans and their egos or self cherishing. Some of it is just from laziness. Too many people want everything to happen instantly, they have no patience to wait and work towards making things truly worthwhile. They value things that are harmful to them. Okay, so some of the people giving spiritual advice may honestly mean...

Purify Negative Karma

Some of you may have been waiting for this podcast to come to light. Learning that you have an enormous amount of negative karma just sitting waiting to pounce on you at any given moment is a frightening thought. Having an attitude that it won't happen to me, is very dangerous. No one has any guarantee that their life will be sweet sailing the entire time. We all have to face negative experiences at some point in our lives, whether it is losing things we love or not being able to get things we desire, falling ill or even dying. It happens to all of us. How do you know you need to purify? If you have anything going wrong in your life, then you need to purify your negative karma. If you are unable to get things you want, you need to purify. If you are disturbed by things you don't want, you need to purify. If you suffer from any illness or injury, you need to purify. If you are not happy with any part of your life, you need to purify. To be honest, the fact that you are living...

More Karma

Hopefully, you have had time to absorb the last two podcasts on karma and all the ramifications involved. I tried to give simple straightforward examples to help make this topic as clear as possible as I understand it. The collective karma we all gather is intertwined and intricate, yet massive in size. I will try to show how these things can play out in your life, to give you further insight on how important our actions really are. It comes down to cause and effect. Your actions cause the effect they create in the future. Again, I will be simplifying this to try to make it as clear as possible to understand. ...
