Collective Karma

 As we learned in the last podcast, karma is action, the words are interchangeable. So what is collective karma? Collective karma is the karma of more than one person combined. This could be you and a friend. It could be the karma of a family, a team, a neighbourhood, a city, a country, a world, a galaxy or even a universe. It is the karma of a collection of living beings. It can include humans, animals, spirits, any living being.

So, if you and a friend make fun of someone, that is collective karma you are creating together and it will go into both of your storage units. If a team of players cheat to win, they all get that karma stored up for the future. If your neighbourhood is racist and won't allow anyone of a different race to move in, that is the collective karma you are all saving up to happen to you in the future. If you live in that neighbourhood, but do nothing to stop the racists, that is still part of your karma. Any negative actions a group of any size commits together goes into everyone's individual storage units. Everyone that is affected by the action or actions the group does, whether they are part of the group, or they are a bystander, every individual has that incident placed in their storage unit to ripen later.

So let's take an example of this to see what can occur. Let's say that the country you live in is enemies with another country. Now we'll say that enemy country is hit with a terrible hurricane and many people die and there is a great deal of damage. If you and others in your country laugh at them or celebrate that the people in that enemy country suffered you are all creating the negative, collective karma for that in the future. Everyone in your country that behaved in those ways have just created the karma for a hurricane to hit them some time in the future and to suffer the way the people in their enemy country have suffered. If you, on the other hand, were compassionate for the people in the enemy country and were concerned for their safety and well being, then you will not experience the hurricane directly in the future, like those that reacted negatively.

Many of us will have seen the television footage of a hurricane or other natural disaster go through an area and the aftermath with all the damage. You may recall having seen an entire neighbourhood completely destroyed and flattened to the ground, except there is one house still standing, seemingly untouched. What is going on there? Well, the people that own the house purified their negative karma, so that they did not lose their house. Now, they had not purified everything completely and still had the negative collective karma to experience the hurricane and the aftermath of destruction all around them, but they purified enough to not lose the house itself.

We all live in a world where hurricanes and other natural disasters happen because none of us have purified all of our negative karma enough to be able to live in a world where these things do not happen. All of us on this planet have the collective karma of experiencing natural disasters either directly or through hearing about them or seeing videos of them. We all have the collective karma for these things to exist. We all have the collective karma to have wars in this world. We all have the collective karma for crimes to take place, for plagues and illnesses to exist, for negative things to happen in this world we all live in together. The degree to which we experience these things depends on the level of negative karma we personally have in our storage from our behaviour and attitudes in the past when these things happened to others.

And so, all of these things go around and around from lifetime to lifetime, happening over and over again because we are ignorant of the truth of our lives and what is going on. We all create the giant mountain sized amount of negative karma in our storage lockers through our ignorance. I am aware of all of this karma and how it can play out and I still struggle to stop behaving negatively in some circumstances, sometime due to my self cherishing and sometimes due to the twisted sense of humour I have. So, if I can still screw up and make mistakes that will affect me negatively in the future, imagine how much worse it is for people that have no clue what they are doing to themselves.

There is more danger when it comes to collective karma. Let's take the recent unpleasantness of Russia attacking the Ukraine. Most people will feel sorry for the people in the Ukraine that have been going through this terrible war and yes, it is horrible, I am not saying otherwise. However, this may come as a shock to you, but the person I feel most sorry for is Putin. He has no idea of the massive amounts of negative karma he is storing up. He is completely ignorant of how karma works, or he would have never done any of this. You see, because he is in charge and because he is the one doing this, he personally must pay for every single negative action anyone under him has engaged in under his command. Putin also has to pay for every single person that is affected because of this war, not only every individual in the Ukraine, but any person on this planet at this time that is affected, like the fear they are going through or even having higher gas prices. Everything. This is why you never want to be the person in charge of anything, whether it is a country, a community or business, whatever.

While every person under Putin that engages in negative behaviour will have to pay for the negative actions they take, even though they were commanded to do so, Putin himself has to pay for each and everyone of them himself, also. This works double fold for him. Let's say there is one soldier in Putin's army, who has killed ten people directly. I am simplifying again, to help explain this clearly. Okay, so the soldier himself will have to go through ten lives, trading places with those he killed. He will have to experience his country being attacked by another country and be killed in ten different lifetimes because that is the karma he has created for himself in the Ukraine. As horrible as that sounds, it is worse for Putin. He has created the karma to experience what the soldier has gone through in this war because he is responsible for the soldier behaving that way. He will live a life and be put to war and kill ten people. So now, Putin has the added karma of having to live those ten lives as his victims. But, let's back up, Putin also has the negative karma of the ten people that the soldier has killed in the Ukraine as well, so he has to live those ten lives and experience those also.

Everything is doubled for Putin, the one in charge, the one that commanded this attack, this war to take place. Now stop and think about that. I gave one example. Think about how many people he is in command of and all the people that have suffered and all of the karma he is gathering in his storage unit. All the suffering he is going to have to go through in all of his future lives. It is almost unfathomable to imagine. How many people are in his military that are following his orders? How many people are suffering from his negative actions? How many millions of people are affected throughout the world by this war, not just in the Ukraine or Russia? He will have to go through every single thing he has caused every single person affected by this. That is why I feel sorry for him so much. I am not trying to downplay the horrors that the people of the Ukraine have experienced, but Putin will have to go through those horrors himself over and over, in lifetime after lifetime until he clears all that negative karma up.

Now you might think he deserves it for the harm he is causing, except that you have done the same thing as him in a past life which is why you are experiencing this war in whatever way it is affecting you. If we look at the karma involved for the people of the Ukraine, they created the karma for this to be happening to them. They were on the other side of this in the past. They were the ones that attacked a country to have the negative karma for this to be happening to them now. It is completely tragic. That is how karma works. We never seem to learn and so we go through this over and over again, unable to stop engaging in negative actions.

Now you can apply this to your own life right now. Have you done negative things and how many people have been affected by what you have done? You will have to experience all the negative actions you have done on the other side. If you have stolen, you will be robbed. If you have been violent, you will have those violent things done to you. If you have killed, you will be killed. Due to collective karma, not only will you have to go through those things directly, like being killed because you killed someone in the past, but you will have to live the experiences of all those affected by that person's death. The grief of their family, friends and acquaintances or any negative experiences anyone goes through do to your one bad action. You are beginning to see the impact of all the negative things you have done.

Now what other collective karma do you have? Have your friends talked you into doing negative things? Have you joined in negative karma because the group around you was doing it? Have you led anyone to behave negatively? Has your country expected you to commit negative actions? Has your religion called for you to hate anyone? We can see just how this affects every area of our life, just how much of an impact karma has on us. We create our own negative karma and we pay for it. It is no one's fault but our own. There is no one punishing you for your sins. You are doing it all to yourself. You perform the action. You store the action in your mental continuum and you will have to live through the results of your previous actions. You have brought all of this onto yourself.

This is why I cannot watch the news anymore. It just makes me cry at all the suffering I see happening and the suffering I see being created. I have a difficult time being around backwards people that are ignorant to the damage they are doing. It all just breaks my heart. I have to keep reminding myself that they are ignorant. They simply just don't know any better. I hope you are starting to learn and that you can change your behaviour, so that you can end your suffering and the suffering of all those around you.
